‘Our Space’ was a series of workshops exploring biodiversity in Mayfield in partnership with Mayfield Arts that resulted in an exhibition of our work during Biodiversity Week!

Over the two workshops we explored the Mayfield CDP Community Garden and local biodiversity, photographed biodiverse areas with film cameras, had a discussion imagining Mayfield rebuilt and made collages with all this in mind.

Our first workshop was held at Mayfield CDP Community Garden where we explored the biodiversity of the community garden and took time to slow down and enjoy biodiversity by taking photographs with disposable film cameras, our biodiversity bingo of the Community Garden was on hand to help us find biodiverse areas to photograph. We had a lot of fun looking at our developed film photographs that we took the previous week in the Mayfield CDP Community Garden at our second workshop, held in Mayfield Arts Centre. With our photos of biodiversity in mind and a discussion imagining Mayfield rebuilt, we spent the workshop together making collages.

What would you want to see in Mayfield if you were to rebuild it?

We celebrated the conclusion of this project during Biodiversity Week by viewing our work together and planting flower seeds for pollinators at Mayfield CDP Community Garden.
